January - June 2023 Events

Celebrate Princeton Pride
Join Princeton Club of Austin to Celebrate Princeton Pride! This new initiative seeks to bring together LGBTQ+ alumni and allies for a social hour at a local queer establishment. Let’s bring Princeton to the spaces and places that are central to the queer community, where everyone feels safe, recognized and celebrated! In partnership with BTGALA, we will get together for drinks and fun at Cheer Up Charlie's on June 22nd. Your RSVP here will give us a sense of headcount, but feel free to show up even if you haven't RSVP'd. Your first drink will be free!

Ivy+ Top Golf Competition
Join us for some friendly golf play at Top Golf near the Domain! We are co-hosting this event with MIT CASA, Stanford, Harvard, Penn & Wharton and other Ivy+ schools. Show off your school pride in your orange & black and/or join the friendly, but fun competition against other schools.

Enjoy a hike on this fun trail in Emma Long Metropolitan Park. Turkey Creek Trail is 2.5 miles long and has multiple creek crossing (usually you can get across easily with the stepping stones, but if there have been recent heavy rains, bring shoes/boots you don’t mind getting wet). Dogs are allowed off-leash on this trail, so you must be comfortable with dogs if you plan to attend. Meet at the big trail map sign by the parking lot.
Note: you need to go a little bit past the Google Map location, and then you’ll see a large parking lot on the right. The trailhead is before the main Emma Long park entrance, so there aren’t any park entry fees for this trail!

Princeton Pre-Read
Our quest to bring the intellectual life of the university to Austin continues, with our first annual Princeton Pre-Read event featuring Every Day the River Changes: Four Weeks Down the Magdalena - the book assigned by President Eisgruber to all undergraduate first-year students this fall.
Whether you’ve read the book or not, please register to join us on Wednesday, January 11th at 7:00pm. We will gather over Zoom to discuss the book, interspersed with highlights of the students' on-campus discussion with the author at the Pre-read assembly during Orientation.
Published by Princeton University Press in 2021, the book is based on Jordan Salama’s senior thesis, in which he recounts his experiences as he traveled along the Magdalena River in Colombia while he was an undergraduate. Salama describes the people he met and the cultures he encountered during his travels with distinctive warmth and empathy. Please see President Eisgruber's post in the PAW here.
